BioI'm a student and a mother and a wife.
I'm a dreamer and a pragmatist.
I'm a nurturer; a healer.
When I need healing, I wash dishes and cry.
I thrive on lists and schedules, but I've never done well being told what to do.
I read, question, and try to see the best in everything.
I melt into music and photographs; I stiffen at duplicity and arrogance.
I cook passionately,
bake haphazardly,
love unconditionally,
argue fiercely,
sing badly,
dance awkwardly.
I weep for Julia.
And all the lostbabies.
Once in a while, I choose altruism to relieve guilt and emptiness.
Most of the time, because it's simply the right thing to do.
With my blessed child in the cosmos, I pumped and gave her milk to another.
It was simply the right thing to do.
Every day I take my vitamins, eat my vegetables, cry a bit, laugh a little bit more, play with my dogs, cuddle my cats, love my husband, and grieve my first daughter. Every day I feel deep hope and faith that my second will arrive to us safely and outlive us all, many decades down our road.
I try to be better, as a wife, because love makes you want to. I leave the cap off the toothpaste and don't always have dinner ready, but I leave his slippers by the door and folded pajamas in the bathroom. Sometimes I'm too honest, but I'd trade my happiness to bear his suffering.
I try to be better, as a mother. Sometimes I yell and lose patience with the dogs, and I curse loudly in Spanish when the oven burns me (which is often). But, my heart is soft. It's open, and pliable, and always growing, and I am quick to forgive and eager to make peace. I give good hugs and am a great storyteller.
I'm all of these things; sometimes more, sometimes less, never perfect, always earnest.
